A Senior Accountant is responsible for analyzing complex financial records and reports. Senior accountants regulate and authenticate financial transactions and maintain a ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks Their duties include assuming a leadership role to guide accounting personnel in daily tasks, reviewing financial data to make forecasting decisions and communicating with company Executives about financial strategies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
  • Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations and roll out reconciliation procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain a new audit system by implementing new policies and procedures in the finance department.
  • Guide junior accountants and other staff by answering questions and coordinating informational classes.
  • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions
  • Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
  • Highly proficient with accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
